Getting Started

Ok here goes nothing. After reading blogs for the past couple of years written by my nieces, Dee Dee and Meghan, their mom, Terry, and others I've decided it might be fun and good therapy for myself. I am not a writer and when I learn how to post pictures here my blog might be more interesting.

I understand I'm going through the "sandwich years" of my life. I'm caring for my 79 year old mother and both of my girls still live at home although one is anxious to try her wings outside the nest. The last two years caring for my mother have been stressful. Last year I had an emotional breakdown that had me wanting to check myself into a mental health facility. Fortunately I am married to the most wonderful, loving, caring person who helped me get through my crisis. I also have a terrific older sister and brother who I lean on heavily at times. They are married to wonderful people (I have in-laws not outlaws) and have challenges in their lives, but they always make time for me when I need them. I love you all!!

In the past few months I have gotten to know and become great friends with three special women. Their children are friends with my daughter, Lisa. Judie, suddenly lost her husband last year to a heart attack. Judie will have many gold stars in her crown one day. It's amazing how well she has done keeping life going for herself and son, Joe. Carol along with her youngest daughter, Kim moved here from Florida a few years ago knowing no one. How many of us would do that? Carol is one of the bravest, funniest and craziest people you'll ever want to know. Lynn is in the "sandwich years" also but cares for her mother in law. Lynn and I have formed a sub support group for each other. When one one of us needs to vent, the other is there to listen. We all try to meet once a week at the local bowling lanes. Not only is this day great for us moms but the kids (young adults) have a great time together also. Lisa has never had a group of friends to hang out with until now and it's been wonderful for her emotional and mental health. She's happier and being more like her old self.
